bugatti veyron fastest car

The Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4 is a mid-engined grand touring car. The Super Sport version is the fastest road-legal production car in the world, with a top speed of 431 km/h (268 mph).[4] The original version has a top speed of 408.00 km/h (253.52 mph).[5] It was namedCar of the Decade (2000–2009) by the BBC television programme Top Gear.
Designed and developed by Volkswagen Group (based on the Bentley Hunaudieres concept) and produced by Bugatti Automobiles SAS at their headquarters in Château Saint Jean in Molsheim (Alsace, France), the Veyron's chief designer was Hartmut Warkuss, and the exterior was designed by Jozef Kabaň of Volkswagen, with much of the engineering work being conducted under the guidance of former Peterbilt Trucks engineer and now Bugatti Engineering chief Wolfgang Schreiber. Though commissioned by Volkswagen, this car is only sold through the Bugatti manufacturers and cannot be found at any Volkswagen dealer.
A number of special variants have been produced, including two targa tops. In December 2010, Bugatti began offering prospective buyers the ability to customize exterior and interiors colours by using the Veyron 16.4 Configurator application on the marque's official website.[6][7]

[edit]Name origin

The car is named after French racing driver Pierre Veyron, who won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1939 while racing for the original Bugatticompany. The 16.4 refers to 16 cylinders and 4 turbochargers.[8]

[edit]Specifications and performance

The Veyron's quad-turbocharged W16 engine
The Veyron features an 8.0 litre, quad-turbocharged, W16 cylinder engine, equivalent to two narrow-angle V8 engines . Each cylinder has four valves for a total of sixty four, but the narrow staggered V8 configuration allows two overhead camshafts to drive two banks of cylinders so only four camshafts are needed. The engine is fed by four turbochargers anddisplaces 7,993 cubic centimetres (487.8 cu in), with a square 86 by 86 mm (3.4 by 3.4 in) bore and stroke.
The transmission is a dual-clutch direct-shift gearbox computer-controlled automaticwith seven gear ratios, with magnesium paddles behind the steering wheel and a shift time of less than 150 milliseconds, built by Ricardo of England rather than Borg-Warner, who designed the six speed DSG used in the mainstream Volkswagen Group marques. The Veyron can be driven in either semi- or fully automatic mode. A replacement transmission for the Veyron costs just over US$120,000.[9] It also has permanent four wheel drive using the Haldex Traction system. It uses special MichelinPAX run-flat tyres, designed specifically to accommodate the Veyron's top speed, which cost US$25,000 per set.[9] The tyres can be removed from the rims only in France, a service which costs US$70,000.[9] Curb weight is 1,888 kilograms (4,162 lb).[10] This gives the car a power-to-weight ratio, according to Volkswagen Group's figures, of 446.3 metric horsepower (328 kW; 440 bhp) per ton.
The car's wheelbase is 2,710 mm (106.7 in). Overall length is 4,462 mm (175.7 in), width 1,998 mm (78.7 in) and height 1,204 mm (47.4 in). The Bugatti Veyron has a total of tenradiators:[11]
  • 3 heat exchangers for the air-to-liquid intercoolers.
  • 3 engine radiators.
  • 1 for the air conditioning system.
  • 1 transmission oil radiator.
  • 1 differential oil radiator.
  • 1 engine oil radiator.
It has a drag coefficient of 0.41 (normal condition) and 0.36 (after lowering to the ground),[12] and a frontal area of 2.07 square metres (22.3 sq ft).[13] This gives it a drag area – the combination of drag coefficient and frontal area, represented as CdA – of 0.74 m2 (8.0 sq ft).

[edit]Engine output

According to Volkswagen Group and certified by TÜV Süddeutschland, the final production Veyron engine produces 1,001 metric horsepower (736 kW; 987 bhp) of motive power, and generates 1,250 newton metres (922 ft·lbf) of torque.[1][14] The nominal figure has been stated by Bugatti officials to be conservative, with the real total being 1,020 metric horsepower(750 kW; 1,006 bhp) or more.

[edit]Super Sport edition

The Veyron Super Sport features an engine power increase from the standard 1,001 metric horsepower (736 kW; 987 bhp) to 1,200 metric horsepower (883 kW; 1,184 bhp) and torque of 1,500 N·m (1,100 ft·lbf) and a revised aerodynamic package.[4] It was shown publicly for the first time at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August 2010.[3]
Bugatti's official test driver Pierre Henri Raphanel drove the Super Sport version of the Veyron on Volkswagen's Ehra-Lessien high-speed test track to establish the car's top speed. With representatives of the Guinness Book of Records and German Technical Inspection Agency (TÜV) on hand, Raphanel made passes around the big oval in both directions achieving an average maximum speed of 431.072 km/h (267.856 mph).[15] Once produced for sale, the first five Super Sports will sport the same black and orange finish as the first production car, which was used to set the speed record, and all production models will be electronically limited to 415 km/h (258 mph) to protect the tyres.[4]

[edit]Top speed

German inspection officials recorded an average top speed of the original version of 408.47 km/h (253.81 mph)[5] during test sessions on the Ehra-Lessien test track on 19 April 2005.
This top speed was verified by James May on Top Gear in November 2006, again at Volkswagen Group's private Ehra-Lessien test track. May noted that at top speed the engine consumes 45,000 litres (9,900 imp gal) of air per minute (as much as a human breathes in four days). The Veyron has the highest top speed of any street legal production car. Back in the Top Gear studio, co-presenter Jeremy Clarkson commented that most super-cars felt like they were shaking apart at their top speed, and asked May if that was the case with the Veyron at 407 km/h (253 mph). May responded that no, the Veyron was very controlled, and only wobbled a tiny-bit when the air-brake deployed. May further commented “Absolutely yea, it’s totally undramatic. But I would give you a bit of a warning, It’s a bit disorientating doing that sort of speed, because after I came off the banking, I was slowing down to stop, and you know how you get a bit impatient and think ‘I’ll just open the door’, fortunately I looked back at the speedo, and I was still doing seventy.”[16]
On 4 July 2010, Bugatti's official test driver Pierre Henri Raphanel piloted the Super Sport edition and was clocked at an average of 431.072 km/h (267.856 mph) on the same track, taking back the title from the SSC Ultimate Aero TT as the fastest production vehicle of all time. The 431.072 km/h mark was reached by averaging the Super Sport's two test runs, the first reaching 427.93 km/h (265.90 mph) and the second 434.20 km/h (269.80 mph). The record run was certified by the German government and the Guinness Book of World Records.[17]
The car's everyday top speed is listed at 350 km/h (220 mph). When the car reaches 220 km/h (140 mph), hydraulics lower the car until it has a ground clearance of about 9 cm (3.5 in). At the same time, the wing and spoiler deploy. In this handling mode the wing provides 3,425 newtons (770 lbf) of downforce, holding the car to the road.[11]
For top speed mode the driver must, while at rest, toggle a special top speed key to the left of the driver's seat. A checklist then establishes whether the car and its driver are ready to attempt to reach 407 km/h (253 mph). If so, the rear spoiler retracts, the front air diffusers shut, and normal 12.5 cm (4.9 in) ground clearance drops to 6.5 cm (2.6 in).

[edit]Braking

The Veyron's brakes use cross drilled, radially vented carbon fibre reinforced silicon carbide (C/SiC) composite discs, manufactured by SGL Carbon, which have a much greater resistance to brake fade when compared with conventional cast iron discs. The lightweight aluminium alloy monobloc brake calipers are made by AP Racing; the fronts have eight[11]titanium pistons and the rear calipers have six pistons. Bugatti claims maximum deceleration of 1.3 g's on road tyres. As an added safety feature, in the event of brake failure, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) has also been installed on the handbrake.
Prototypes have been subjected to repeated 1.0 g braking from 312 km/h (194 mph) to 80 km/h (50 mph) without fade. With the car's acceleration from 80 km/h (50 mph) to 312 km/h (194 mph), that test can be performed every 22 seconds. At speeds above 200 km/h (120 mph), the rear wing also acts as an airbrake, snapping to a 55° angle in 0.4 seconds once brakes are applied, providing an additional 0.68 g (6.66 m/s2) of deceleration (equivalent to the stopping power of an ordinary hatchback).[11] Bugatti claims the Veyron will brake from 400 km/h (250 mph) to a standstill in less than 10 seconds, though distance covered in this time will be half of a kilometer (third of a mile).[11]

Improved aerodynamics kit, 1,200 metric horsepower (883 kW; 1,184 bhp) 1,500 newton metres (1,100 ft·lbf) torque engine upgrade. It has a 431.072 km/h (267.856 mph) top speed, making it the fastest road car in production,[2][38][39] although it is electronically limited to 415.07 km/h (257.91 mph) to protect the tyres from disintegrating. The first five of an unannounced production run made its debut in a matte black and orange colour combination, all of which have been spoken for. The public debut was at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August 2010. It is valued at GB£1.7 million and Bugatti have stated that only 30 will be produced.
The Super Sport was featured on Series 15, Episode 5 of Top Gear, where presenter, James May attempted to set the speed record. It managed 417 km/h (259 mph), briefly setting a new production car speed record. Later in the day though, one of Bugatti's test drivers (Pierre Henri Raphanel) broke May's previous record, claiming it through runs in both directions (May only did one run in one direction) and registering an average top speed of 431.072 km/h (267.856 mph). The car then went round the Top Gear Test Track and topped the lap leader board with a 1:16.8 time, beating the 1:17.1 record set previously by the Gumpert Apollo Sport.

Volkswagen Jetta launch on August 17

WHEN: August 17, 2011
HOW MUCH: Rs 15 - 20 lakh (ex-showroom)
ENGINES: Diesel - 2.0 TDI, 140 PS / Petrol - 1.8 TSI, 160 PS or 2.0 TSI, 200 PS; 6-speed manual and 6-speed DSG auto
COMPETITION: Honda Civic, Skoda Laura, Skoda Superb, Maruti Suzuki Kizashi, Honda Accord

New Volkswagen Jetta

These are pictures of the all-new Volkswagen Jetta, to be launched in the Indian  market on August 17. This is the fifth-generation Jetta, and an important new car for Volkswagen globally. In fact, it is tasked with building the German car-maker's profile in the most competitive market of them all - North America.

The new Jetta isn't simply a Golf with a boot tacked on; it has been extensively engineered into an all-new model in its own right. It is styled to reflect the Group's uniform design language, and is instantly recognisable as a Vee-Dub from any angle, and it looks a lot like a baby Passat. Built on a 2,651 mm wheelbase, the new Jetta's wheelbase is actually less than the Renault Fluence and Honda Civic, but VW has packaged this car very intelligently, so there's lots of interior space. VW has always prided itself on its interiors, and the new Jetta should not disappoint in the quality of its build and materials used. We just wish it looked a little more distinctive, both inside and out.

New VW Jetta interior

Powering the new Jetta will be a pair of engines: one petrol and one diesel. The familiar 2.0-litre TDI oil-burner is a given with the new Jetta, and with 140 PS it should be more than up to the task of hauling the 1450 kg (approx) car around. This engine will be mated to a six-speed manual or a 6-speed DSG (direct shift gearbox). We aren't sure about the petrol engine option, which may be launched later. It could be either the 1.8-litre 160 PS TSI motor, which serves the current Skoda Laura and previous VW Passat, or the new 2.0-litre TSI with 200 PS. Volkswagen India could look at the bigger petrol motor for the Jetta, which may also be used in the new Passat, which does not have a petrol engine option as of now. This would help the company achieve better economy of scale.

We expect the new Volkswagen Jetta to be priced between Rs 15-20 lakh, ex-showroom. It will straddle the D-segment between the Honda Civic, Chevy Cruze and Skoda Laura at one end, while the highest variants will overlap with the Honda Accord, Maruti Suzuki Kizashi and the Skoda Superb at the upper end.

all new honda cr-v coming

WHEN: March, 2012
HOW MUCH: Rs 22-25 lakh
ENGINE: 2.4-litre iVTEC petrol
COMPETITION: Hyundai Santa Fe, Renault Koleos, Chevrolet Captiva, Nissan X-Trail, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Mitsubishi Outlander

These are official pictures and full detailed specifications of the all-new Honda CR-V, which will be shown to the public for the first time at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi. As you can see, Honda has chosen not to drastically alter the new CR-V's looks, and have deliberately been conservative with it, like the recently launched new Honda Civic as well. This is because Honda does not want to harm its US sales in any way. The US is the single largest market for the CR-V, and indeed, it is the largest selling SUV in its class in America. The demographic of those buyers prefers evolution rather than revolution, and so Honda has chosen to stick with what will likely work most in its market.

new cr-v price 22 lakhs

The split grille however has been done away with for the new for 2012 CR-V, and personally, we feel that the new chin looks much better. Visually, the biggest changes to the new CR-V can be seen at the rear, with the almost Volvo-esque tail lamps. The swooping roof line and stylised D-pillar have been carried forward as well.

The interiors are where Honda has tried to infise as much new energy into the CR-V's design as possible, with a new centre console and dashboard which moves the goal posts even further from other car makers for futuristic design. A cool new ana-digi speedo / odo cluster is complemented by a big touch-screen anvigation cum inftainment system up front. Steering mounted audio controls are present as well.

new cr-v interiors

The new for 2012 Honda CR-V also has flexible seating, with a rear bench that flips / folds / slides as desired at the touch of a button. This feature afford the new CR-V owner huge flexibility to move things around as desired.

Under the skin, Honda has worked hard to improve the CR-V in most areas. The all-wheel drive system has been reworked to send power to the rear wheels more often that earlier, when power was apportioned rear ward only when the front wheels began t slip. The new AWD system is more repsonsive, Honda claims, making for better performance and control. The new CR-V's dmapers have been retuned as well, with longer travel, making the SUV more comfortable without compromising on its sporty handling. The hydraulic power steering has also been done away with, in favour of a new electrically-assisted system.

new cr-v engine more powerful better mileage

Honda has also lavished some attention on the CR-V's 2.4-litre in-line four iVTEC engine. It now produces more power, up 5 PS to 185 PS, and is cleaner as well. Honda claims the new CR-V should see an improvement in fue economy by at least 1.5 kpl over the out going model. There's no talk about the diesel yet, but autojunction.in undestands that Honda is unlikely to offer a diesel version in India just yet. The new CR-V has already been launched in the US , but it'll be a few months before it comes to India. The new CR-V will also be fully imported like its predecessor. Sales will likely commence sometime in March 2012. Expect a 5 to 10 % increase in price

hyundaiNext-gen Hyundai Elantra due in 2012 r i 40

WHEN: January 2012
HOW MUCH: Rs 11-14 lakh
ENGINES: 1.8-litre 148 PS petrol, 1.6-litre 120 PS diesel, 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes
COMPETITION: Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla Altis, Chevrolet Cruze, Skoda Laura

New Hyundai Elantra coming to India in 2012

The all-new Hyundai Elantra will be launched in the Indian market early next year. A source within Hyundai has comfirmed to autojunction.in that the all-new Elantra will be assembled at the company's Chennai facility. Another exponent of Hyundai's new 'Fluidic' design language, the new Elantra will be the second car to boast the sharp cuts and prominent lines characterisitc of this design language. The bold hexagonal grille and sharply styled headlamps and taillamps give this car a truly distinctive look.

The new Hyundai Elantra sports a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine with Hyundai's D-CVVT system (Dual-Continuously Variable Valve Timing) which varies valve timing on both the inlet and exhaust valves, driven by separate camshafts. This allows Hyundai engineers to tune the engine for relatively high power output, without compromising efficiency and emissions. This engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, or a 6-speed automatic transmission with manual over-ride, dubbed Shiftronic.

There's also the option of Hyundai's new 1.6-litre CRDi diesel, which does duty in the new Verna, launched recently. This engine would work well with the new Elantra as well, helping Hyundai achieve better economies of scale. A diesel engine with an automatic transmission would also help the new Elantra compete with the Chevy Cruze, which has enjoyed a strong monopoly as the only diesel automatic in this class.

Expect a very high level of standard equipment with this car, inlcuding climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, reverse parking sensors, ABS, airbags and what-have-you. The car will be priced on par with the competition. There are some rumours that the new Elantra could be named the i40 in India, but we have no confirmation as of now. The earlier Elantra didn't exactly set sales charts on fire in India, and the company is evaluating whether the name has any negative associations to it.

Whatever the company finally decides to call it, what the new Hyundai Elantra brings to the table is sharp styling, an impressive cabin, deep level of specification and excellent value for money. The new Elantra also comes with an impressive list of safety specifications, including ABS with EBD, traction control and six airbags. How many of these safety features Hyundai will offer on the Indian-built Elantra remains to be seen. The competition has been warned.

new mercedes m-class coming to india in 2012

The M-Class SUV heralded a whole new era for Mercedes-Benz, proving hugely popular and bringing more cusotmers into the three-pointed star's fold. Now, the third-generation M-Class has just been launched in Europe, and is scheduled to make its way to India in early 2012.

The new Mercedes-Benz M-Class is an all-new platform, and one which will eventually be used for the next second-generation GL as well. But first, let's see what's new with the ML. For starters, Mercedes will be offering the new M-Class with three engine options; a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel, a 3.0-litre V6 diesel and a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine. All three engines will come with permanent four-wheel drive and Mercedes' excellent 7G-Tronic gearbox. This range of engines is exactly the same as we find in the current E-Class family, and form the mainstay of Mercedes' range for the next couple of years, when its new family of direct injection petrol motors and fourth generation common-rail diesels will make an appearance. Later, an ML500 and AMG version should be avilable as well.

The chassis is of a monocoque design, but is extremely rigid too, endowing the ML with adecent off-road ability. Of course, most owners are unlikely to ever use their MLs for any serious mud-plugging (The G-wagen is for that), but Mercedes' is proud to point out that the ML comes blessed with great ground clearance, substanital suspension travel and huge wheel articulation. The third generation ML utilises a double-wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear axle, which ensure it will be able to handle the stresses of off-road use and yet retain sure-footed handling at speed on the highway.

new mercedes m-class off-road

The interiors of the new ML have been reworked as well, with sharper lines and a more angular theme overall, replacing the slightly rounded interior theme. The new hexagonal steering wheel boss lends a very dynamic character to the driver controls. Bits of chrome and brushed aluminium accents add to the brightwork on the insides.

new mercedes m-class interior

The new M-Class comes with Mercedes' 4MATIC all-wheel drive system, along with a full suite of driver aids, including traction control, anti-lock brakes with brake assist function, electronic stability programme and hill descent control. Despite all the luxury and features the new ML offers, it still weighs in at a respectable 2150 kgs for the 2.2-litre diesel, rising to 2180 kgs for the 3.0-litre V6 diesel. This should ensure good economy and low emissions, and also ensure that the handling remains dynamic enough. If we had a grouse with the earlier generation ML and GL, it was the slightly floaty ride characterisitc which tended to cause passengers to feel a little queasy. We hope the new ML should have this issue sorted.

Production of right-hand drive models is slated to begin early next year, after which Mercedes will introduce the new M-Class to India. It will be brought in as a fully-built car, or CBU, so taxes will be high. Still we expect Mercedes will price it competitvely, and we expect prices to start at around Rs 65 lakh. Mercedes may gamble on offering the 2.2-litre diesel in India as well, although we suspect the ML350 CDI will be the mainstay of the range in India.

Renault Duster SUV to be launched at 2012 Auto Expo

WHEN: Early 2012
HOW MUCH: Rs 7-8 lakh
ENGINES: 1.5-litre 105 PS diesel, 2WD and 4WD
COMPETITION: Forthcoming 'mini-Xylo', Maruti Gypsy

Renault Duster will be displayed at 2012 Auto Expo

The Duster will be Renault's third offering in India, after the Fluence sedan and Koleos SUV. The Duster is built around the same B-platform which does duty under the skin of the Logan, nee Mahindra Verito. In the Duster, this engine is tuned to produce 105 PS, same as the Fluence. However, the Duster uses a different gearbox, with a short first gear which gives it good traction at slow speeds on slippery surfaces. The Duster will be available in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions, with the price difference being about a lakh of rupees. as such, we expect the Duster to retail for between Rs 7-8 lakhs, ex-showroom.

The Renault Duster you see in these images is the recently facelifted model, launched in South America a few weeks ago. The Duster will be assembled at the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant at Oragadam, near Chennai. Te Duster boasts of a high 210 mm ground clearance. The four-wheel-drive system has been jointly developed with Nissan, acknowledged as one of the best off-road vehicle systems manufacturers in the world. The Duster is a no-nonsense SUV, aimed at that market segment looking for a practical, reliable and value-for-money offering. It has all the right ingredients to be a success, but more importantly, will be creating a new segment as such, one without too much competition.

audi Q3 new

WHEN: March 2012
HOW MUCH: Rs 20 – 25 lakh
ENGINES: 2.0 TFSI petrol (215 PS or 173 PS); 2.0 TDI diesel (180 PS or 143 PS)
COMPETITION: BMW X1, Honda CR-V, Mitsubishi Outlander

Audi’s all-new Q3 is the third in its Q family. Q designates Audi’s SUV range, with the mammoth Q7 at the top of the range, the mid-size Q5 and now this – the all-new Audi Q3.

When you look at it, it’s instantly recognisable as an Audi, with its chromed ‘Bavarian beard’ front grille, wedge-shaped headlamps (with xenon lighting technology), and the flat bonnet. Audi has made certain concessions with the Q3’s styling however, with a steeply raked rear windscreen to give the car a sporty profile. It works quite well, as you can see from these pictures. A muscular ridge runs from the edge of the head lamps, along the length of the Q3’s sides, and meets with the tail lamps at the rear. This helps to define the bulked-up stance of the car. There isn’t a surfeit of lines or complex shapes, unlike many modern designs, and the Audi Q3’s simple geometric style appeals a lot to me.

The Audi Q3 as sold in Europe is available with a number of wheel sizes, ranging from 16-inch to 19-inch diameter, but it’s likely that the Indian-made Q3 will get 16- or 17-inch wheels. Larger than that would be impractical on our roads.

The Q3 shares a lot of its basic architecture with the Volkswagen Tiguan, itself based on a beefed-up and raised VW Golf. However, Audi has spun a lot of its on Vorsprung durch Technic magic into the Q3. So it has multi-link suspension, quattro all-wheel drive and Audi’s brilliant new seven-speed S Tronic gearbox (except on the base 143 PS diesel). The driver has the option of changing gears with steering-wheel mounted paddles as well.

The Audi Q3 is the first to get Audi’s aggressive weight saving measures, and the engineers in Ingolstadt have taken a scalpel to this SUV. Amazingly, the base version tips the scales at just under 1500 kilos, same as the Audi A4 saloon. To achieve this, Audi engineers have resorted to tailored blanks made of lightweight high-tensile steel, and also a lot of aluminium in the construction. This not only makes the Q3’s body shell lighter and stronger, it also makes this little SUV corrosion resistant, an important consideration, especially in a country like India.

The interiors of the new Q3 are unmistakably Audi, with the same angular design throughout the cabin. A design highlight though is the steering-wheel; the off-set steering boss and split four-spoke design looks very cool. We haven’t driven it yet, but given that it’s smaller than a Q5 even, interior space is likely to be at a premium. Even the bigger Q5 feels slightly cramped in the rear, and so don’t be surprised if the Q3 is even more so. However, the new Audi Q3 does come with a lot of features to aid driver comfort and safety, including electronic stability programme, hold assist function, park-assist, lane-change assist, on-board navigation and even internet on the move with Wi-fi connectivity, although we doubt the Q3 as sold in India will get this last feature. The Bose music system with 14 speakers is expected to provide an unbeatable audio experience in the new Audi Q3.

The Q3’s powertrain will be exclusively four-cylinder engines only, with two diesel and two petrol options. The base diesel version will come with front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual gearbox only. There should be takers for the Q3 in this avatar in India, although our guess is the best-seller will be the 180 PS diesel Quattro with the S Tronic gearbox. For petrol heads, there are two versions of the 2.0-litre TFSI as well, but it’s likely that in India only the 173 PS version will be offered.

The new Audi Q3 will be assembled at Audi’s Aurangabad facility and will go on sale in the first quarter of 2012. Audi will display the new Q3 at the Auto Expo in January, which will allow customers to get up close and personal with the car, and also allow Audi to gather customer feedback.

The Q3 has all the makings of a winner from Audi. It’s stylish, will be well-built, and comes with a convincing powertrain package and all the feel-good features a customer would expect in this class. More importantly, it will give Audi a lot of leverage in the emerging luxury segment, which till now has been dominated by BMW, especially with its X1 SUV. The Audi Q3 and the BMW X1 will go head-to-head, but the X1 already has a head-start over the Q3, so it’ll be interesting to see how the baby Audi stacks up.
