Nissan Motor Company limited is a Japanese automobile manufacturer. It formerly marketed vehicles under the Datsun brand name and is one of the largest car manufacturers. The car's name was an acronym of the company's partners' family names: Kenjiro Den, Rokuro Aoyama and Meitaro Takeuchi (DAT). It has become more independent after it’s restructuring under Carlos Ghosn (CEO). Nissan Motors India Private Ltd (NMIPL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan based Nissan Motors. The company started off by bringing Completely Built Units (CBUs) to India. It entered in Indian market with the launch of its SUV Nissan X-Trail in 2005 this was followed by Teana which was introduced in 2007 and the Micra which was introduced in 2010. Nissan has a manufacturing plant at Chennai with capacity of manufacturing 2, 00,000 cars per year. Company invested about Rs 4,500 crore along with Renault in the Indian operations.
Nissan India has registered total sales of 1,249 units in August 2010, with its newly-launched compact car Micra clocking 1,182 units. In the same month last year the company sold a total of 22 units only. The company had started nationwide sales of the Micra on July 2010 and has sold 928 units in the starting month the remaining models - Teana, the luxury sedan, managed just 21 units and X-trail, the lifestyle SUV (CBU), registered sales of 44 units. The company also sold 2 units of its sports car, 370Z in Aug 2010. The Micra, which was opened for bookings prior to its launch in July, has till date received about 3,600 bookings.
Nissan Upcoming Cars in India:
Nissan plans to launch Its 2 new products in Indian market as well as globally. They are Nissan NV200 2WD – It is designed like a Van but it has got a very different look from as a simple van on wheels. It has been designed by the joint venture of Nissan Design Center (NDC) Japan and Nissan Design Europe. This car was revealed in the 2007 Tokyo Motor show. The engine is expected to be Renault Logan’s 1500 cc diesel engine having a power of 85 hp and delivers torque of 200 Nm. We can see this car by June-2011 in the Indian market. Nissan Murano Diesel – The Nissan Murano is an eye catching and perhaps more than just attractive. The Murano boats of a 3.5 L V6 engine that generates a power of 265 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque. In addition to that, the car is extremely economic. It runs on an average of 23 mpg on the highway. Nissan Murano has several modern features like push button start and improved navigation system which has hard drive recognition system and voice recognition system. |
