Design and Interior
Ikon has optimized suspension design, a balanced chassis and sharp steering precision. The car has independent McPherson Struts mounted on separate sub-frame and a heavy-duty twist-beam with strut-type coil spring/damper units on the rear. The suspension dynamics is excellent and the handling is predictable. Even on high speeds, the car is firm on highways. The engine growls and young drivers like to drive it.

Variants and Price
Ford Ikon is available in six variants - 1.3 LXi, 1.3 Flair, 1.6 EXi, 1.6 ZXi, 1.8 EXi, and 1.8 ZXi. The car is available in the range of Rs 4.9 lakhs and Rs 5.5 lakhs.

Engine
Ikon petrol version uses the 1.3L ROCAM (Roller Finger Camshaft) engine which generates 69 bhp@5,500 rpm and torque of 105 Nm@2,500 rpm. The diesel version comes with a 1.4 DuraTorq TDCi In-line 4 engine producing 67 bhp of power. In both variants, the engine is mated with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Safety
Highly developed Dynamic Safety Engineering (DSE) program has been incorporated in Ford Ikon. Some of the key safety features include side impact beams, crumple zones, a monocoque body and the latest in occupant restraint systems.
