Overview

The Aria has driven into Indian terrains to give rise to a whole new breed. The new car is India's first four-wheel drive crossover that possesses the poise of a sedan with the might of an SUV. It carries genes of both a sedan and an SUV giving India the best of both. Tata Motors, which is well aware of Indian road conditions, has introduced the crossover with the assurance of safety, performance and luxury no matter what the road conditions are.
The car is available in the country in two drive trains 4*4 and 4*2 comprising of 8 variants. The Tata Aria 4*4 comes in 'Pleasure' which is the base model, 'Prestige' which is the mid-range model and 'Pride' which happens to be the top end model, while the 4*2 as Aria Prestige at the top end, the Aria Pleasure and the Aria Pure.
Each Aria variant comes in a choice of seven appealing colours; Castelle Grey, Arctic Silver, Sardinia Red, Quartz Black, Pearl White, Surf Blue and Night Shade Black. However, you could choose your classic colour and upholstery scheme from the following; Black and Plum, Black and Black, Black and Beige.

Powertrain & Performance

The family crossover is equipped with a 2.2 litre DICOR engine featuring Variable Turbine Technology (VTT), 16 valves & Twin Overhead Camshaft with 32 bit ECU. The powerful engine generates 138 bhp of maximum power and 320 NM of torque. The Tata Aria is equipped with a Dual Mass flywheel which isolates t orsional vibrations from the powertrain, and makes the inside cabin environment totally NVH free. The new Mark II gearbox is perfectly mated to the engine that ensures smooth power delivery and precise gear shifting.
Independent Double Wishbone with coil spring at the front and, 5 Link Suspension with coil spring suspension at the rear is designed in such a way as to achieve an optimal balance between ride comfort and control and stability, both on normal roads and in offroading. The low-roll characteristics and higher shock absorbing capacity of the vehicle further ensure a sedan-like ride quality and SUV-like offroading capability.
The new Tata Aria is equipped with a selectable 4x4 which has features a built in Adapterra torque on demand. The latest engineering marvels for an instant response, it is the most recent technology in 4X4 systems. The system sense and distributes torque, in varying proportion to the wheels, in accordance with the terrain. So even if two wheels of the vehicle are on a slippery surface, the Adapterra reduces torque to these wheels, thereby avoiding an unfortunate wheel spin. The Adapterra also helps to maintain stability on winding roads.
The new Tata Aria features disc brakes on all four wheels for efficient and powerful braking. The dual pot calliper braking system ensures high braking force and shorter braking distance.

Build & Styling

New Tata Aria Car - Interior
The Tata Aria leaves one delighted with its bold proportions and no-nonsense features. It is very clear that the car maker has not compromised on anything while carving the country's first four-wheel drive crossover. The front fascia gets a truly distinct look with the wrap-around dual barrelled headlamps making the car look solid and frightening. The signature Tata grille further enhances the aggressive character. The unique lunging silhouette and dynamic roofline, however, manage to tame the forceful personality of the Aria.
Chrome detailing throughout adds a touch of refinement with each sweep of metal hinting at the power of performance the car can deliver. Tata Motors has bestowed the car with a chrome waistline on windows that make the Aria look real sophisticated. The alloy wheels further highlight the car's side profile.
Thanks to the selectable Adapterra all-wheel drive and torque on demand, the Aria finds no difficulty treading even on the roughest terrain. It proudly exhibits its sure-footedness in urban environments too. The independent double wishbone front suspension and the 5-link rear suspension dampen even the greatest shocks along the way, and with low roll characteristics and higher soaking ability, the suspension ensures occupants enjoy bump-free rides.
The lavish and generous interiors of the Aria are very inviting. Seven ergonomically designed seats with generous legroom and headroom go to show that Tata has made no compromise with space. The second and third row of seats can be folded into a large flat bed, or, the two rows could be split folded individually to reveal more space. Plush leather upholstery adds refinement to the interiors while the elegant dashboard with metal accentuation completes the luxurious look. Each control has been thoughtfully positioned.
The in-dash satellite navigation system, that's simple yet offers unmatched coverage, ensures the Aria reaches its destination with ease. The slightest drizzle puts the rain-sensing auto wipers to task. Darkness disturbs the peaceful sleep of the darkness sensing auto headlights that wake up as the surroundings grow dim. The auto climate control, meanwhile, keeps the interiors cool yet cosy. The electrically adjustable ORVMs add to the practicality of the Aria, and there's no need to look back even to park; a reverse guide camera helps you with precision. Splendid and thoughtful features, that's what the Tata Aria is all about.
There are plenty of other functional and handy inclusions too in the Aria. There are audio and phone controls on the steering, roof utility bins, vanity mirror with lights, puddle lamps, fog lights in the front and rear, luggage room light, 12V charging point, chrome inner door handles and ORVMs controls, cup holder, glove box chiller, magazine holder, hand rest adjustments, lumbar support adjustments, keyless entry with remote integrated key and more.
The out-of-this-world Aria stays connected with the real at all times and offers optimum entertainment for occupants. It comes equipped with a 2 DIN integrated music system, 6 hi-fidelity speakers, ports for iPod and USB inputs, and Tata Connect Blue for hands-free calling. The driver information system aids the driver with useful real-time info and alerts. Further adding to driver comfort is the tilt steering, seat belt height adjustment, driver seat height adjustment and cruise control that take off the stress during those long drives.
For safety, the Aria has plenty to offer. It comes with advanced hydro-formed frame members and a stiffened body shell with in-built crumple zones. The car has been equipped with disc brake on all four wheels, anti-lock braking system with electronic brake forced distribution, electronic stability programme and traction control, six airbags for driver and passengers and much more.
